Can I get a refund if I return the car early?
No. Early returns or unused rental days after pick-up are not eligible for refunds on prepaid reservations.
What happens if I don’t show up for my prepaid rental?
If you fail to collect the vehicle at your scheduled pick-up time and do not notify us, it is considered a no-show. Prepaid no-shows are non-refundable.
Can I return the rental vehicle after office hours?
Yes. Overnight drop-off is available. The renter remains responsible for the vehicle until it is inspected by our staff.
Can I extend my rental without returning the vehicle first?
Yes only in some cases, depending on how long you've had the car rental for. Rental extensions must be approved before the original return time. Contact our office to request an extension. Do not wait until the last minute to contact us for a rental extension, we cannot guarantee it.
Is there an age requirement to rent a car in Vancouver?
Yes. The minimum rental age is 18. Drivers aged 18–24 may be subject to an underage fee. Class 7 (N / GDL / G2) licenses are accepted with a surcharge. Young drivers fee of $20 per day applies.
Can I rent a car without a major credit card?
Yes. We offer rental options using debit cards, Visa Debit, approved prepaid cards, or cash deposits. Approval is required before booking.
What happens if I return my rental car late?
Late returns may result in additional rental charges. If you expect to return the vehicle late, contact us before your scheduled return time. After-hours drop-off is available with prior arrangement.
Can tourists rent a car in Vancouver?
Yes. International visitors can rent using a valid foreign driver’s license. An International Driving Permit may be required depending on the country of issuance. A passport and approved payment method are also required.
How do I cancel a prepaid car rental in Vancouver?
You can cancel a prepaid booking for a full refund if you cancel 7 or more days before pick-up. If the reservation was made within 7 days of pick-up, a 10% cancellation fee applies. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before pick-up and no-shows are non-refundable.
Do I need to provide any additional verification when booking a luxury vehicle?
If you are booking a luxury vehicle you may have to provide a driving abstract from ICBC before you come to pick up the vehicle.
How much is the deposit for a rental car in Vancouver?
A refundable security deposit is required for all rentals. Standard vehicles require a minimum deposit of $500 CAD. Luxury and premium vehicles require deposits ranging from $2,500 to $15,000 CAD, and exotic vehicles may require up to $25,000 CAD. Deposits are released after the vehicle is returned and inspected.
What is the cancellation policy?
If you wish to cancel before your rental pick-up time, you must email us your reservation and request the cancellation at least 72 hours prior to your pick-up. Any cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances occurring from our end will take place a month in advance, and you will be notified via email, at least 30 days in advance.
Do I need insurance to rent a car in British Columbia?
Yes. All rental vehicles must have valid insurance coverage. Drivers under 21 are required to purchase collision and basic liability protection. Additional coverage options are available at the time of rental.

Yes, you can rent a car with class 7N /GDL /G2/ any other probationary licenses, there will be a surcharge of $20/day and minimum deposit of $2500 is required. For more information please contact our local office.
Is unlimited mileage included with my car rental?
Most standard vehicles include unlimited kilometers within British Columbia. Luxury SUVs and luxury sedans have daily, weekly, and monthly mileage limits. Additional kilometers are charged per km based on vehicle category.
If you would like to travel out of province, there is a out of province fee of $30.00/day. This fee applies throughout the rental period. - For Luxury SUV's including the Range Rover, Cadillac Escalade you have 125 KM/Day, 875 KM/Week, 1500 KM/Month included. Extra KM is $3.00/KM - For Luxury SUV's including the Mercedes Benz G Wagon and Range Rover Sport you have 100 KM/Day, 700KM/Week, 1500KM/Month included. The deposit for Luxury SUV's ranges from $2,500 to $15,000.
Can I pick up a car at one location and drop it off at another?
Yes you can. The one way fee is $15.
How long will you hold my car rental reservation?
Reservations are held for 30 minutes past the scheduled pick-up time. If you anticipate being late, notify us in advance to avoid cancellation.
Can I rent a car with a foreign driver’s license?
Yes. We accept valid foreign driver’s licenses from most countries, including the United States and China. The license must remain valid for the entire rental period.
Can I drive the rental car outside British Columbia or to the United States?
Yes. Out-of-province travel is permitted with prior approval. An additional daily fee applies. Cross-border travel to the United States also requires advance authorization.
There will be an additional fee of $20/per day applied to the entire duration of the rental, when this service is used.
Can I rent a car for an ICBC road test in Vancouver?
Yes. We provide vehicle rentals for ICBC Class 5 and Class 7 road tests. Advance booking is recommended.

Can I rent a car with a debit card at Vancouver Airport (YVR)?
Yes. We accept approved debit cards, Visa Debit, cash deposits, and prepaid electronic cards at our Vancouver and YVR locations. Valid government-issued photo ID is required. Deposit amounts may vary depending on vehicle type.

Can I Use a Third Party Credit Card?
Yes, you can use a third party credit card, as long as it has a functional chip and PIN. There will be an additional $20/day fee to use a third party credit card. *Restrictions apply.
Is There Any Age Requirement to Rent a Car?
Yes, the person renting the car must be 18 years, or older and must possess a valid, government-issued, authentic Driver’s Licence. 'Under Age Fee' may be applied to your rental if you are between the ages of 18 and 24.
What Credit Cards does Rent a Car Vancouver accept?
We accept all VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover UnionPay and JCB cards.
Can I use a credit card that belongs to someone else, with consent?
Yes, the person to whom the card belongs should come at the time of Rental pick-up, with a valid Photo ID for verification. *Restrictions apply.
Is it possible to extend the car rental period without bringing the car back first?

Can the rented vehicle be returned after Office Hours?
For our customers’ convenience, we do have an Overnight Drop-box. Please notify us at the time of rental that you wish to use the Overnight Drop-off procedure. Please note that you are wholly responsible for any damages done to the vehicle until it is checked in by our staff.
Can additional drivers use the rental vehicle?
If requested, we can add Additional Drivers to your rental contract, as long as they have a valid driver’s licence. Ask your Car Rental Agent for more information.
'Additional Driver Fee' may be applied to your rental.
Can we take a car on rent on hourly basis?
Hourly rental service is not provided by Rent a Car Vancouver. The car or any vehicle can be taken on rent for at least a single day & in that case, it should be returned within the 24 hour limit of time.
Can one way rentals be provided?
One way rental facility is not provided by our company.
Can Child safety seats or GPS service be provided by the company?
Yes. For any such accessories, please ask your Rental Agent at the time of making your reservation, as availability is a factor.
Is smoking restricted inside the vehicle?
Our vehicles are completely Smoke-Free. A customer who violates this rule is likely to be levied with a fine for any such offence.
